You Were Born for Purpose—Not Just Pleasure
You Were Born for Purpose—Not Just Pleasure
By David Iwuji
“Thou art worthy, O Lord… for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” — Revelation 4:11 (KJV)
We live in a generation obsessed with pleasure. Pleasure sells. Pleasure trends. Pleasure dominates our screens, songs, and social feeds. But there’s one truth the enemy tries to hide from teenagers:
You were not born for pleasure—you were born for purpose.
Your life is not an accident. God didn’t put you on earth just to be entertained, feel good, or follow vibes. He put you here on divine assignment.
1. Purpose is Why You Exist
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee…” — Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
You didn’t appear by chance. You were formed by God, and He formed you for something specific.
There’s something in you the world needs. There’s someone out there who needs your obedience. There’s a generation tied to your assignment. This is why the devil tries to distract you early—he fears what you were born to become.
2. Pleasure Is Not Evil, But It’s Dangerous Without Purpose
God created good things to enjoy. Laughter, love, food, music, even friendship. But pleasure becomes dangerous when it replaces purpose.
This is what happened to Samson. He was born a deliverer. He ended up a playboy. Why? He pursued pleasure over purpose. It didn’t start with sin. It started with distraction.
“But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.” — 1 Timothy 5:6 (KJV)
Many are alive physically but dead spiritually—because they’re chasing good feelings over godly calling.
3. Pleasure Can Be a Trap
Not every fun thing is from God. Some pleasures are satanic distractions in disguise.
Here’s the truth:
- Not every trend is safe
 - Not every party is harmless
 - Not every friend is sent by God
 - Not every feeling is worth following

The devil often offers pleasure before purpose—just like he did with Eve in Eden and Jesus in the wilderness. But what looks good without God leads to bondage.
4. Purpose Gives You Power Over Sin
“Where there is no vision, the people perish…” — Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
Purpose is not just a dream—it’s a weapon. When you know what you were born for, you won’t settle for what others die for.
Why do many teenagers fall into sexual sin, addictions, laziness, or rebellion? Because they have no vision.
Purpose sharpens your focus. It keeps your feet moving forward. It reminds you that your life matters—and that you can’t waste it on temporary thrills.
5. Your Purpose is Bigger Than You
It’s not just about your success. It’s about the kingdom. You are an arrow in God’s hand, meant to strike darkness. You are a voice in your generation. You are a light in a world that’s lost.
God is calling you to rise—before you turn twenty. Not to chase fame or fortune, but to fulfill purpose with purity and fire.
Final Charge: Choose Purpose Over Pleasure
Every day, you will choose. Will I live to be entertained or empowered? Will I live to enjoy the moment or to obey my Maker?
Don’t waste your youth. Don’t trade your crown for candy. Don’t live for vibes—live for vision.
You were born for more.
